Catholicism is dying out in Belgium, especially Brussels.
The decline in religious practice is accelerating, especially in Brussels.
The great moments of life such as baptisms, marriages or burials are taking place less and less often in the church. Thus, in Brussels, fewer than 7.2% of marriages were recorded as Catholic compared to 28.4% in Wallonia and 28% in Flanders.

Also in Brussels, barely 14.8% of children (51.8% in Wallonia, 65.1% in Flanders) were baptised and 22.6% of funerals were recorded as Catholic (51.2% in Wallonia, 68% in Flanders). There are also fewer and fewer priests. 2,776 priests officiate in Belgium of whom 332 are foreigners and 57% of them are over 55.
