Alongside the success of the mainstream left party, the United Left - a "leaderless" coalition of Marxists, Trotskyists and Maoists - went from 2.2 to 6.7% of the vote, going from 4 deputies to 12.

The spokesman of this "leaderless" coalition is Johanne Schmidt-Nielsen, an attractive 27-year-old blonde. Perhaps this explains their success.

"We are fighting for a socialism that will lead to a classless communist society."

"When we speak of communist utopía", explained Schmidt-Nielsen in the newspaper Politiken, "it means a society where no one earns money through alien work. Where everyone contributes to the wealth and it is divided up fairly. It is a beautiful utopia."
