You are an advocate of interfaith dialogue...
Islam should be an important interlocutor in regard of the number of practitioners it has. This religion, as we know, is multifaceted, so one must be careful not to have thoughts of suspicion and rivalry. There is a lot of work being done to settle a sensitive issue fueled by problems in our society, by the discomfort generated by the economic problems. It's too easy to have scapegoats and to indulge in exclusion. The Church has an important card to play, that of living together and in social peace.
Your predecessor had denounced the organization of an aperitif of porchetta rosé (Italian pork dish) aimed against Muslims. Would you do the same?
Yes, if the event has the purpose of stigmatizing a community. One should not play with that, it's too dangerous.
