The president of the Federal Agency for Protection of the Constitution, Hans-Georg Maaßen, expects Turkey to do more against Islamists who travel through the country to the neighbouring state of Syria. "Turkey is a very important factor in the region. We hope for and expect a substantially closer cooperation in this matter," Maaßen said to the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT.

...According to Maaßen, more than 220 suspected Islamists have now travelled from Germany to Syria.
