Fear of rising anti-Semitism in Europe has prompted nearly a third of European Jews to consider emigration because they do not feel safe in their home country, according to a detailed survey of Jewish perceptions released Friday by a European Union agency that monitors discrimination and other violations of basic rights.

The survey, by the bloc’s Fundamental Rights Agency, focused on eight countries that account for more than 90 percent of Europe’s Jewish population and found that “while member states have made sustained efforts to combat anti-Semitism, the problem is still widespread.”

The Vienna-based agency, in a lengthy report on its findings, did not reach any conclusions about the cause of a perception among European Jews of rising bias. But the results of its survey suggest that prejudices traditionally associated with far-right nationalist political groups like those that collaborated with the Nazis during World War II have now spread to other segments of society and are increasingly driven by conflict in the Middle East rather than homegrown bigotry.

One-third of respondents said they considered statements critical of Israel as anti-Semitic.

“It paints a clear picture of an issue in Europe today that we need to address more firmly and take seriously,” said Morten Kjaerum, the Danish director of the Fundamental Rights Agency, an independent organization funded by the European Union. He said he was particularly struck that 29 percent of those surveyed said they had considered emigrating because of security considerations. “That is a clear indication of an issue we need to address,” he said in a telephone interview.

The survey gathered information from nearly 6,000 Jews living in Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and Sweden. The data was collected online by respondents who identified themselves as Jewish, but Mr. Kjaerum said the process nonetheless provided a “fairly representative” sampling of views.

Jewish groups in countries like France have long warned that Europe’s economic crisis, lingering prejudice and a surge of Muslim immigrants often hostile to Israel have stoked a revival of hostility toward Jews. But the new survey, released on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht violence against Jews in Nazi Germany, gives the first detailed snapshot of Jewish perceptions of the problem across Europe.

Sixty-six percent of respondents said they considered anti-Semitism to be a major problem in their countries, while 76 percent said the situation had become more acute over the past five years.

The Internet has become a particular cause for concern among European Jews, with 75 percent of those surveyed stating that they considered anti-Semitism a problem online. Nearly the same proportion said they believed it had grown more serious over the past five years. A quarter said they had experienced some form of anti-Semitic harassment.

Physical violence, however, is comparatively rare, with 4 percent responding that they had experienced violence or threats of violence because they were Jewish in the year before the survey.

Most previous efforts to assess the level of anti-Semitism have relied on the number of officially reported incidents of harassment or physical violence in individual countries. Such figures, however, appear to understate the extent of the problem, as most incidents are not reported and only 13 of the 28 countries in the European Union collect data on anti-Semitic incidents.

More than three-quarters of Jews with experience of anti-Semitic harassment who took part in the survey said they had not reported the incidents to the police.

Asked who they thought was responsible for such harassment, 27 percent of respondents said the perpetrators had “Muslim extremist views,” 22 percent said they had “left-wing political views” and 19 percent blamed people with “right-wing views.”

Anti-Semitism in Europe has historically been connected to extreme right-wing nationalist groups, often those with links to conservative elements of the Roman Catholic Church. These include groups like Action Française, an organization founded in the late 19th century that rallied to the collaborationist Vichy government of Marshal Philippe Pétain during World War II and continued in various forms until the late 20th century.

This strand continues in places like Hungary, where the virulently anti-Semitic Jobbik party has surged with support from extreme Hungarian nationalists. Ninety percent of Jews surveyed in Hungary ranked anti-Semitism as a “very big” or “fairly big” problem, the highest level in Europe.

In other countries, however, hostility to Jews is now rooted more on the left and in Muslim immigrant communities, the survey’s findings indicate. More than three-quarters of respondents in Belgium and France, both of which have large populations of Muslim immigrants, identified anti-Semitism as a problem. Eighty percent of respondents in the two countries described immigration as a problem, too, suggesting tense relations between Jewish communities and recently arrived immigrants.

About 90 percent of respondents in Belgium and France reported that the Arab-Israeli conflict had had a “notable impact” on the safety of Jews. Only 40 percent reported the same in Hungary, which has few Muslim immigrants, while a majority of respondents in most other countries surveyed said tensions in the Middle East had affected their feelings of safety either a “great deal” or a “fair amount.”

It's good that 80% of Jews in Belgium and France now see immigration as a problem. Hopefully, their views will eventually filter through to Jewish organisations, representatives and journalists. Of course, there is still no acknowledgement of responsibility for the Jewish role in pushing immigration, diversity and multiculturalism. And, in keeping with their historical pattern of "sojourning", the Jews always have the option of moving on to their next hotel after their present one has been reduced to cinders. Europeans don't have that option, unless our civilisation is to expire.

Well, there you go!

Here is the proof that the vast majority of Jews are opposed to Multiculturalism. This is a complete refutation of all the conspiracy theories, as though Jews are somehow responsible for the mass Islamic immigration to Europe.

It should now be clear that the left wing politicians who are promoting this policy, and who have a Jewish background, do not represent the opinions of the vast majority of Jews in Europe, and and that their policies derive mainly from their political views, rather than their Jewish heritage.

I suspect you're right, mementiol. most Jews do oppose third world immigration. However Jews are massively overrepresented amongst those who support open borders and try to enforce multiculturism down everybody's throats. By the same token, most muslims do not groom and rape white girls, although most that do are muslims.

More like Jews are becoming aware that North Africans and Middle Easterners aren't reliable allies in their war on the White nation-state, and it's simply no longer 'good for the Jew' to admit immigrants that are equally hostile to Jewish interests as they are to European interests

Why aren't these Jews making a more public stand against muliticulturalism and the third world invasion? Whenever anyone criticises these they are automatically called a "nazi" by Jewish organisations and the media. I don't see any everyday Jews speaking out in their defense.

Alain Finkielkraut regularly defends Renaud Camus.

(Perhaps not an "everyday jew" whatever that is, but recently he's had to do it pretty nearly every day.)

Personally, I can understand that 80% of the Jews in Belgium and France see immigration as a problem. Belgium and France belong to the group of most infected countries in Europe. Multiculturalism and political correctness had reached there – as in Sweden – the level of gangrene. Non-whites (especially Muslims) from the Third World are gaining steadily power. They had have started to oppress excessively the local population. They even chase locals away from environments where they are in the minority. Left wing policy-makers and media are working hard to ruin their own nation state. In this situation the Jews are very vulnerable. They are facing two enemies who are aiming to hurt them physically. The European Union that monitors discrimination is of no use for them or for anyone else. It is nothing else but ‘One more Institute where left wingers are earning their money’. For the pharisaic Left Wingers only blacks and Muslims are entitled to be victims. All the rest can go to hell.

I don't worry about Jews so much. These guys have been pushing multicult and world governance from their beginning. No wonder the Nazis and Communists banned it outright. There used to be a time when the USA prevented them from naturalizing as citizens due to their belief that all Nations should be dissolved into a New World Order.

A 1925 list of "leading local Bahá'í Centres" of Europe listed organized communities of many countries - the largest being in Germany.[16] However the religion was soon banned in a couple countries: in 1937 Heinrich Himmler disbanded the Bahá'í Faith's institutions in Germany because of its 'international and pacifist tendencies'[17] and in Russia in 1938 "monstrous accusations" against Bahá'ís[17] and a Soviet government policy of oppression of religion resulted in Bahá'í communities in 38 cities across Soviet territories ceasing to exist.[18] However the religion recovered in both countries. The religion has generally spread such that in recent years the Association of Religion Data Archives estimated the Bahá'ís in European countries to number in hundreds to tens of thousands.[19]

It's a truth that in a way reflects on Jews as liberal being highly destructive, and they still have Israel, which doesn't tolerate illegal immigrants and controls legal immigration and does not, in general, allow Muslims to immigrate legally to Israel. America, the most powerful Jews are open borders fanatics, the same in Europe. But there are plenty of non-Jews in there working 24-7 to destroy the West.

“Of course, there is still no acknowledgement of responsibility for the Jewish role in pushing immigration, diversity an multiculturalism …etc.” . Well Jews in general are not responsible for that. Alas, I have to admit that too many Jewish politicians belong to the political-correct left wing. A morbid idea to support your own sworn enemy!. They refuse to accept that immigration and multiculturalism are an extension of the Nazi ideology. The imported diversity and multiculturalism are striving to wipe them out from the face of the earth; together with any other European religious or ethnic group. Of course; they go first!!!.
Further you write: "The Jews always have the option of moving on to their next hotel…etc".
Well. If the average Jew had the chance to move to a next hotel in the years 1940- 1945 he had surely done that. But no ‘hotel’ had opened it’s doors for Jews: (exect Sweden for the Danish Jews!). The only place they could move on was Auschwitz – Birkenau or the 5-star hotels like Sobibor and Trablinka.
It is true that Europeans don’t have the luxury of moving to a next ‘hotel’. This is the reason why they need to fight against three enemies;
a) Islam and the tsunami waves of ‘Immigrants’ and ‘Refugees’ from Africa and the Muslim world who are up to destroy everything on their way,
b) own left wing and liberal Fifth Column who are the enemy in within,
c) EU : the supporter of ruining of the nation state on cost of the indigenous population.
Sure Israel does not allow illegal immigration for ‘Free Fuckers” from Africa and the Muslim world. Contrary to Sweden and Norway, Israel does not belong to “The Suicide Club” (book by R.L. Stevenson 1896)

You know - I read stuff about Jews and multiculturalism. While 99% of Jews in the west were getting on with their lives about 1% decided to big note themselves appoint themselves spokesmen and community leaders. They were the first minority in the west but the behavior of their 1% is the same as all the other minorities that came after them whether they be Greeks or Asians in Australia or Blacks in America. This 1% leftist multiculturalist big mouths can be found in every ethnic group that makes its way into Europe USA Australia etc. The Jews are no different or special. The thing is the Christian or Asian minority groups do not cause the chaos seen from Muslim groups who are an existential and ancient enemy to the people of Europe.

“Thus, all their strength the Jews – basically, ALL the vocal Jews in the world – encourage non-white immigration into every country in which they are located, not only because the multicultural society is their fundamental political aim, but also because the disintegration of national identity in each nation and the massive presence of anti-white immigrants is designed to prevent the original white population from succeeding in any nationalistic outbursts against the Jewish sway over finance, politics and the media. All Jewish intellectuals, without any exception, are focused on this question of building the ‘pluralistic society’ and for this they practice constant ‘vigilance against racism.’”
