It's not a banal act of vandalism. It's a veritable business that is targeting Christian cemeteries in Algeria. Those responsible for the profanation, who form part of an international network, open the graves, rob the bodies of their objects of value, taken with them, to re-sell them in the salons of western capitals. The national police is investigating an international network.

The profanation of the graves, a phenomenon that has been in fashion for several years, has just yielded its first secrets. Last Tuesday evening, three individuals were arrested after being caught red-handed violating a tomb in which four French people were buried. The latter, buried in the years 1873 and 1947, had taken vases of great value with them into the tomb.
