A RACE row has broken out after almost a third of the children due to take part in a school field trip to a city mosque were pulled out by their parents.

Children from Newtongrange Primary visited the Central Mosque in Potterrow, but from an original group of 90 pupils, 28 were withdrawn.

The trip had been organised to help educate the primary one, two and five pupils about other religions and cultures.

But one parent today said they didn’t want their child “mixed up in the hate being preached in mosques”.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the wake of the killing of soldier Lee Rigby in London, and David Cameron’s pledge to “drain the swamp” of extremism.

Religious leaders and Midlothian councillors condemned parents pulling their children out the trip, but one 42-year-old parent of a P2 pupil, who did not take part, said: “I don’t agree with sending my child to a mosque to learn about a religion that isn’t my own. It’s the hate that is being preached in these mosques that I don’t want my child mixed up in.”

Another said: “If you don’t want your kids learning that kind of stuff, then you should be allowed to say ‘no’. Many of my friends are a different religion to me, but they don’t try to ram it down my throat.”

It is not known whether girls who attended the mosque were asked to wear headscarves or long leggings. For those who didn’t attend, the school laid on an alternative lesson on Islam.

One parent, whose five-year-old was also withdrawn, said her decision had been influenced by recent events.

The 27-year-old mum-of-three said: “The timing was wrong with people protesting and guys getting killed in the street. If things were a bit calmer I’d have sent him along.

“I received the letter about this a few weeks ago and had no problem, but at the end of last week other parents began asking whether it was safe.”

There was a protest by far-right activists outside the Scottish Parliament last week, but there have been none outside the Central Mosque.

But Dr Salah Beltagui, of the Muslim Council of Scotland, said education would help eradicate a “fear of the unknown”.

He said: “These views are rather worrying as they are not based on fact but on fear of the unknown. They are an offshoot of the current hysteria surrounding Islam at the moment in the UK. What happened in Woolwich is in no way representative of Islam, we do not condone violence and we are part of this country too.”

Dr Beltagui’s view was
supported by Sean Swindells, parish minister of Newbattle Church in Newtongrange, who said: “I think children need to be aware of other faiths. A lot of the recent incidents have been hyped up and so it is understandable that people feel a level of discomfort.”

Newtongrange councillor Jim Muirhead said: “Unfortunately people equate recent incidents in Woolwich with religion when in my view such incidents are as far from
religion as you can get.”

However, Kenny MacDonald, Scottish regional organiser of the BNP, backed the parents. He said: “I applaud these parents in going against the wave of political correctness.”

A spokeswoman for Midlothian Council said: “Some parents chose not to send their children but an alternative lesson on Islam in class was offered to these pupils. We will continue to respect the views of parents.”

As well as the murder of Lee Rigby, the parents may have been influenced by the recent murder of the son of an imam at the mosque. This followed an hours-long car chase and gun rampage through the city by Muslim drug dealers. The imam's son is believed to have been involved in shady dealings as part of this criminal milieu. Unquestionably, the incident gave the people of Edinburgh a glimpse of the true face of the "religion of peace".

UPDATE: A few years ago, this same mosque (then called the "Islamic Centre of Edinburgh") was found to be distributing radical jihadist literature.

I wonder if Muslim Children will be taken to a Church or synagogue along with teaching from the Bible and Torah

A few points:

Re the imam's son and his possible role in drug dealing:- Turkey is the center of drug trafficking in Europe which permeates Britain; Moslems reap the benefits of this by the profits which help to further establish Islamic presence (mosques, 'faith' schools, islamic 'cultural' centres and spreading written taqiyya and kitman, deceit and withholding full facts, about Islam. Those drug profits are also used to fund Jihad against the largely Christian West by providing jihadists with weaponry and supporting terrorist cells. And the real huge advantage is that the Western drug problem is inflicting serious medical, social and moral damage to Western individuals and softening society up to Islamic influence and conquest.

On to 'religious worship' in mosques:-

ALL mosques 'preach' and teach the Koran, Hadiths and Islamic Sharia as the law and, its literal meaning, the 'path' or 'way' of life. That means apart from all the other injustices, segregation of the sexes in the mosque (females at the back or in separate rooms). Then there are the prayers, five times a day and always including the Al-Fatiha (the first Sura or chapter in the Koran), the final verses of which ask "allah" to "Show us the straight path, the path of those whom Thou hast favoured; not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray." The 'straight path' is Islam; the 'path of those who earn Thine anger' are the Jews. 'those who go astray' are the Christians.

Thus, Christian, and Jewish, parents who send their kids to mosques are subjecting them to a 'prayer' which calls down the Islamic deity's condemnation on them. Hardly an example of religious 'tolerance'. It would be an excellent example of the true nature of Islam if teachers of religious education actually knew, and taught these facts, to their students but RE teachers are amongst the least well-informed about what is really a totalitarian political ideology with the outward pietistic trappings of a religion. And those kids should certainly be taught about the mandate of Death for Apostasy in Islam: any 'religion' that has to keep its 'faithful' in it with a death penalty for trying to leave it, is no 'faith' (which should be rooted in freedom of belief and freedom of speech). As we all keep saying, Islam is not a 'race.

I've just listened to that video. Class, please take notes. You will be tested.

Islam 101: Yes, the Mandate of Death for Apostasy is Islamic law which quotes, and derives, from the Koran and the Hadiths (one of the thousands of Hadiths Bukhari states: "The Apostle of Allah {Mohamed{ said, 'Whoever leaves his deen {Islamic faith}, then kill him." It also comes from the Koran where the punishment of either exile or death is for 'those who make mischief in the land' which includes apostates, those who engage in sex outside marriage and murderers. All five schools of Sharia endorse this penalty of death after giving the apostate a short period in which to 'repent' and return to Islam. This death penalty applies to any adult, sane man or woman or child (all but one school of Sharia which excludes a child from the charge of apostasy). With women, they can be beaten until they repent (or die). The male apostate if unrepentant is killed immediately.

Islamic law manuals confirm this death penalty (the 'Umdat al-Salik, an Islamic law manual certified by Al-Azhar University in Cairo as a correct rendition, in English and Arabic, of Islamic law for the Sunni Moslems (85% of Moslems in the world are Sunni).

The Moslem on the video who repeats the verse Sura 2:256 from the Koran "Let there be no compulsion in religion..." knows the death penalty and is simply using Taqiyya (lies, deceit) and Kitman (withholding of full facts) --- both forms of deceit are mandated in the Koran which permits Moslems to lie to 'guard' (protect) themselves, especially when living amongst those who may be hostile to them personally, or when living amongst non-Moslems AND as a means of furthering Islamic goals. That Sura is used all the time by Moslems as part of their deceit: that verse and at least 120 verses in the Koran were abrogated (by "allah" itself in 4 verses in the Koran dealing with Abrogation) by the Sword Verse (Sura 9:5: "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.") These earlier, seemingly peaceful sounding verses were among the ones Mohamed used when first attempting to sell himself as a 'prophet' to the Jews and then the Christians. When he was repulsed, and also thrown out of Mecca and decamped to Medina with his criminal band which became an army, his tone changed because as a victorious warlord, he no longer needed such peaceful appeals to 'unbelievers.'

The US government complained in vain for years about Saudi literature. It never changed because, as you can see, it all comes from the central texts of Islam and to challenge or change it would invite charges that a person was an 'apostate' (unbeliever) and you know what that leads to....

This is not 'radical' or 'extremist' teachings: this IS Islam (which means 'submission' in Arabic). No excuse any longer including European leaders playing dumb over what Islam 'really' teaches.

So the poor children whose parents did the right thing, and kept them away from the mosque, still had to learn about Islam?! Is this Scotland, the land of William Wallace, or Pakistan? Answers to the traitors in the SNP and other anti-indigenous parties, Holyrood, Edinburgh!

Dear all, may I request you to just think about this - today on an average one in every 4 or 5 world citizens - is a Muslim. So is it really fitile to know your Muslim neighbour - his culture - his way life style. All Muslims are not hate mongers, neither they are violent. Hed they all been so as often alleged by neive press - there would have been more problems in the world. Islam always respected others' faith and belief. The numerous changes in Bible that are made over the years has rendered it moving far away from the original message - this is acknowledged by many Christians scholars. Today you have many vesions as a result. Isn't it straying?
