Islam versus Europe

It all started a few weeks ago with the account of a teacher (female), a contract history/geography teacher at the Condorcet secondary school in Saint-Priest. In the course of converting to Judaism, she regularly attended the Grand synagogue at Quai Tilsitt in Lyon. It is then that she confided in the grand rabbi, Richard Wertenschlag, on attacks of an antisemitic character that she said she had been subjected to in the course of her work.

A few days before, she had been the victim of sarcasm from her pupils on the day before Yom Kippur, a Jewish religious festival for which she had obtained a day of leave on 26 September. "We don't want a Jew as a teacher in our class", the pupils are said to have said. Later, on 3 October, on the occasion of a (supposedly) pro-Palestinian demonstration in front of the school, three individuals forced their way into her class and disturbed the lesson – they were removed with the help of other teachers and the head teacher. A few days later came another clash in class during a lesson on the birth of the Israeli state: the pupils are said to have passionately denounced "Jewish imperialism" and refused to admit Israel's right to exist, a country they said was a "thief of land".

Faced with the teacher's account, the grand rabbi decided to take up his pen and alert the academy in Lyon. In a letter dated 19 October, the new director, Françoise Moulin Civil, claimed to be following the affair "very closely". Since then, no news: Richard Wertenschlag, "worried" about what was happening to this teacher, decided to publish a copy of his letter in the Bulletin of Tilsitt, a publication well known to those who attend the synagogue.

In regards to the teacher being afraid for her career in the national education system: she admitted to the rabbi that she has been "called to order" by an inspector in the school, who was contacted by the headteacher at the time of the incidents. On 28 November, the director's office even put an end to her contract. No question then of being employed in other establishments.

...When questioned, the directorate gives a very different version of events: although it doesn't deny the sequence of events in the school, the institution responded, we are told, "in an adequate manner" to the concerns of the teacher. As proof, it cites the legal complaint filed after the intrusion incident - the young perpetrators were identified and sentence passed on one of them. Furthermore, "there was no call to order, but advice was given": following the clashes between the teacher and her pupils, the inspector summoned all of the history/geography teachers in the school "in order not to stigmatise the party concerned". There followed a collective briefing on how to tackle Israeli-Palestinian relations in class.

The article doesn't specifically say the pupils were Muslim, but we have to read between the lines given our journalists' practice of artfully dissimulating any unpleasant truth related to Islam. Lyon is heavily Muslim-colonised, and the passion for "Palestine" leaves little room for doubt.
