At a debate in Geneva last night between Oskar Freysinger of the Swiss People's Party and Hani Ramadan, Freysinger was assaulted by a person "of African type" who pushed a paper plate filled with shaving foam into his face. Although Freysinger was surrounded by security guards at the time, for some reason they were not able to stop the assailant.

Freysinger was not seriously hurt and made light of the incident, refusing to press charges against the "African type". 20 Minutes claims the African, a man in his 20s, was not a Muslim.

The debate was on the motion: Did the Third World War start on 11 September 2001?

Freysinger's opponent, Hani Ramadan, is the brother of Islamic propagandist Tariq Ramadan and the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. He has publicly defended stoning and lost his job as a teacher in Switzerland as a result, but then was reinstated.
