The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has refused to consider two appeals against the Swiss minaret ban filed by various Mohammedans and Mohammedan associations in Switzerland. The court ruled that because the petitioners had not themselves suffered from this minaret ban, because they had no plans to build a mosque with a minaret, they lacked standing and their complaints would therefore not be considered. It also noted that Swiss courts are currently considering the lawfulness of the minaret ban, so it would be wrong for the ECHR to intervene.
