While other Western governments emasculate their countries to appease Islam, the Dutch government has bucked the trend by actually growing a pair. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s attack with menaces on Dutch MP Geert Wilders drew this response from The Hague:

The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Uri Rosenthal, dissociates himself from a call by the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to the Dutch government to stop the ‘Campaign of hatred’ of PVV leader Geert Wilders.

‘The Dutch government dissociates itself fully from the request to silence a politician. The Netherlands have a very high regard of freedom of speech,’ Rosenthal said on Wednesday.

Credit where credit's due. A rare robust response. Can you imagine William Hague saying that, or Dave withdrawing Britain's new representative to the OIC because of its attacks on free speech?

Perhaps this marks the end of the beginning.
