Two new polls confirm Marine Le Pen's dominating position in French politics. One published in Le Parisien indicates that she would go through to the second round of the presidential poll under almost every conceivable configuration of candidates. She leads in the first round polling against any possible rival except the Socialist and current IMF leader Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Sarkozy would be knocked out in the first round in almost every scenario; only when faced with Ségolène Royal would he even limp through to the second round, behind Marine Le Pen.

Another poll published in the Journal du Dimanche shows that Marine Le Pen overwhelmingly leads in the working class vote, securing 34% of their voting intentions against 17% for Dominique Strauss-Kahn and 15% for Sarkozy. In the 2007 election, Sarkozy was able to gain a greater share of the working class vote than any other candidate, but much of his support there has collapsed and gone to Marine Le Pen.
