Islam versus Europe

Leftists are struggling to formulate a coherent response to the Muslim takeover of Tower Hamlets. "Gay free zone" stickers promptly went up around the area. The original line was that this was an EDL ploy to discredit Muslims; now, the gentle souls at Harry's Place have acknowledged that this is no longer tenable.

Plans were made to hold a Gay Pride event in the area. These were put on hold when it was found that an organiser had been a member of the EDL. A new leader took charge and organised an event that took place on Satuday. Only 30 people participated. The new organiser had refused to publicise the event except on Facebook. There were 21 police officers and a helicopter watching over these 30 proud gays. In other words, there were almost as many police as there were participants. Despite this, the gay proud ones were apparently heckled by some of the local low life. It is not known whether said low life was of the "Asian" variety, but it seems a reasonable assumption.

The organiser said it was “not about publicity”:

Mr Newman-Saunders, who said that 30 people joined the march, said: “It wasn’t about religion or getting press attention.”

So what exactly was it about then?

Harry's Place does what it usually does: play the same old leftist game of drawing a line in the sand and claiming that anyone who steps over it is evil; it simply draws the line a little further back than the typical leftist crowd. In other words, they encourage recognition of the fact that it there is actually a problem related to Islam and anti-gay bigotry; but insist the problem relates only to "extremists" and "islamists". Anyone who tries to draw deeper conclusions than that must be cast into the moral abyss and be branded a thought criminal.
